StartUp is a Windows 95/98/NT 4.0/2000/XP/2003 32-bit
program that was developed to provide quick access to all of the programs that
are automatically started when you turn on or logon to your computer. Such
programs consume a good part of your system's resources, and can slow down

Antispyware - Spybot

fighting malware. This program came to our attention as it seemed to fight the
Russian virus. Malwarebytes has developed a variety
of tools that can identify and remove malicious software from your computer.
When your computer becomes infected, Malwarebytes can
provide the needed assistance to remove the infection and restore the machine
back to optimum performance. Be aware
this program can take 2 or more hours to run. This not something you will run
everyday.
2.1 Chinese Virus Conficker/Downadup
Removal Tool
Microsoft was a program called Microsoft® Windows®
Malicious Software Removal Tool (KB890830). The National Cyber Security Alliance
issued a warning this afternoon, revealing that a complex computer worm known
as the Downadup - also known as Conflicker
- has not only infected corporate but managed to infect more than 10 million
computers this week. Naturally, the worm focuses on Microsoft Windows and gains
access to networks by guessing corporate passwords. Once cracked, the worm thus
infects a computer and the entire network of servers it is connected to; they
even infect connected USB sticks. Unfortunately, the worm is extremely
difficult to remove, especially when it resides within a network.
Note These two programs are not prophylactics but
are designed to remove worms etc. They can take several hours to run.

As you are browsing the internet, you are downloading compressed
files and decompressing them in a TEMPFILE location. Windows pretends that you doing
“dial-up” internet instead
of high speed broadband internet. What
this means is that every time you request CNN for instance, Windows first
checks the TEMPFILE to see if it already has it so that windows doesn’t
have to load it again. For the clueless
in computing this results in a large number of temporary files accumulating on
your computer. The ever increasing megabytes of TEMPFILES wastes
hard drive space and progressively slows your internet browsing to a crawl as it must
check the TEMPFILES before accessing the site you desire.
Another plus of running this fast program is that many virus
programs come via your TEMPFILE. Cleaning the TEMPFILE every day keeps the virus intruders at bay.
Ladies clean their food preparation area in the Kitchen to prevent speading salmonella

open source program used by millions of people around the world and it works
pretty darn good. OpenOffice.org is both an
open-source product and a project. The product is a multiplatform office

user interface and feature set similar to those of other office suites.

Internet Explorer Too Dangerous To Keep Using
As time went on and open-source Mozilla matured, I started using Mozilla as
my main Linux Web browser and as my secondary Windows browser. This past
Friday, though, I started installing Firefox, the browser-only side of Mozilla,
on every one of my production Windows machines. Why? Because
Internet Explorer, like Outlook, has finally become, to my mind, a
permanent security hole that masquerades as a useful application.
Strong words? Have you really thought about this latest exploit? It could hit

PUBMED etc. The Googlebar project was initially
created to address the widespread desire in the mozilla
community for the Google toolbar to support Netscape 7/Mozilla, since many

specialty searches in one convenient location. In the past, the Google toolbar
was only available for IE on windows. While we are in no way affiliated with

I like the name on this one. Looks like they have a fairly good set of utilites and tips. We are curently
checking out MAD BOOT. This creates a bootable diskette that spans DOS to
windows XP. Check this site if you are a technician. Low level formats a

The only really good site news for nerds. If you want to be at
the leading edge this is the place dude. This site also caters to those who
write code and have problems. It could be a learning experience if you

This is a very dangerous page for the
uninitiated but there is a treasure trove of good information for the person
that has no delusions of competency. Use with extreme care. There are
some great informations sites linked from this site,
so if your a techie and need the info this is the site dude.

Everyone has been to PC Hell at one time or
another. It's that place you visit when your personal computer
is driving you insane with problems, glitches,
and so on. To try to soothe the frustration, we'll provide some tips, hints, and
troubleshooting remedies to help you get out of PC Hell. Be warned however,
sometimes there is no exit. This site has some pretty good virus eradication
programs and some helpful hints about IRQ conflicts etc. A good place to learn
